Domain transfer/release fees are charged are by a majority of registrars, but BB Online make no charge to transfer a domain to another European Union domain name registrar.

Background

Registrations open to residents of European Union member countries only. You may register as many domains as you wish.

.eu domain names can only be registered for one year at a time, and must be at least 2 characters long with a maximum length of 63 characters.

Some domain names have been reserved by eurID, the ".eu" registry, and are unavailable. These include:

More information on these reserved names, and lists of the reserved names themselves, can be found by clicking here.

Launched in 2006, the .eu domain represents the European region as a whole and has been tremendously successful. At the time of writing, over 2,500,000 .eu domain names have been registered. The European Union consists of 27 member states, and is the largest economic entity in the world. Any resident with a permanent street address in one of the European Union member states can register an .eu domain name.

Bearing in mind the size of the European Union, and the number of countries this body contains, it is predicted the .eu domain name will become the second most popular domain name after .com addresses. There are nearly 500 million people who live in the European Union, and the number of residents gives weight to this claim. The .eu domain name represents their European identity.
